Fun challenge for Hugo de Sadeleer with upcoming 25h Fun Cup Race at Spa-Francorchamps
Following a brilliant provisional 3rd place finish at the 24h of Le Mans, Hugo is ready to take part in a much more relaxed 25h Fun Cup headliner at Spa Francorchamps (5-7 July). The newly formed Team Masseria #777 will be supported by Jean-Francois “Kiki” Olivier’s veteran Team Allure that won the overall 25H Fun Cup 2017.
Hugo will be joined by former Indycar podium finisher Mario Moraes (Brazilian) who is making a return to racing with the Fun Cup. Hugo will also be joined by his brother Jerome de Sadeleer who won the 2017 Radical Sportscars SR1 cup and is currently competing in the UK Radical Challenge in an SR3 RSX. The fourth driver is frequent UK Radical Challenge podium finisher Mark Richards (British).
The team will get behind the wheel of a Team Masseria #777 by Allure Fun Cup Evo 3 powered by a 170hp 4-cylinder Volkswagen engine. In the last years, the Fun Cup 25H has consistently attracted 140+ identical cars which provides around the clock wheel to wheel racing. While the team anticipates to be competitive, they are definitely planning to mostly have fun.
On track action begins on Thursday 5 July with Free Practice at 9:00. The Fun Cup 25H of Spa-Francorchamps begins on Saturday 7 July at 15:00.
Hugo de Sadeleer, driver, Team Masseria #777:
“After an amazing result in Le Mans, it’s time for another long race on one of the most amazing tracks in the world. I hope my teammates are ready to have a great time and fight for 25hours..”
Mario Moraes, driver, Team Masseria #777:
“Well its awesome to be back at Spa after such a long time without racing. It is definitely my favorite track and it is great to be here with friends!”
Jerome de Sadeleer, driver, Team Masseria #777:
“I am very excited to join my brother Hugo and good friends Mario and Mark for this 25H race. I’m the only one who has raced in a Fun Cup car before so hopefully I can show the team a thing or two. That being said, I’m pretty sure Hugo will be the one giving the lessons. We are joining Team Allure and they are the best business for racing in the Fun Cup so I think we’ll have FUN and be quick.”
Mark Richards, driver, Team Masseria #777:
“If we keep it on the circuit for 25 hours then I’ll be happy. If we keep it on the circuit and we’re quick, then I’ll be ecstatic.”
